5 Summer Break Tips for Parents

Summer Break Tips for Parents

It's almost summertime. For many parents, this means a break from your normal routine, more relaxed days, and fun in the sun. While it is nice to have a break from some of your parent duties, making plans to keep the little ones safe and busy can be a challenge. Luckily for you, we are here to help! Here are 5 tips to survive summer vacation.

Tip 1: Maintain a Schedule

The most basic schedule can be a lifesaver this summer. Whether it's snack time, playtime, or quality time, it's important to keep a routine. We understand it can be tempting to give your child some freedom, especially on the weekends, but don't! Schedules help maintain a child's sense of security, organization, and stability, and most children thrive with daily structure. Plus, maintaining a summer schedule will make it easier for your child to transition to school mode in the fall.

Tip 2: Get Outdoors

Home can be a safe and inviting place for children. But no child should spend too much time in front of a screen. Dedicate some time to physical activity and fresh air. Between swimming, camping, and taking a trip to your local park, there are a lot of activities your child can enjoy.

Tip 3: Honor Space

Physical and social activities can take a toll on your child's energy level. Give your child time to recharge his or her battery by scheduling alone time. Don't forget, honoring space will help keep your child's frown upside down.

Tip 4: Brainstorm Together

Don't be afraid to ask your child what he or she wants to do this summer. You might not agree with all your child's suggestions, but it will reduce some stress with activity planning and keep your child engaged this summer. So work together to create a list of activities your child can participate in.

Tip 5: Montessori Summer Camp

Our camp combines classic summer fun with an exposure to Montessori education. Your child will be exposed to a variety of activities like nature walks, art, music, and Montessori materials.
