Overview:
The Broadcast Journalism Club at The Lillian and Betty Ratner Montessori School is designed for 6th-8th graders with an interest in news and storytelling. This club will introduce students to the world of journalism, with the goal of producing a once-a-month engaging school news broadcast. Students will learn the fundamentals of news production, from writing, reporting, research, and filming to reporting live and anchoring.
Mission:
To empower students to develop storytelling skills, explore various roles in broadcast journalism, and create quality news content that informs the school community.
Elizabeth VanMetre is a local TV News Reporter for News 5 Cleveland. She has been a journalist for a decade covering everything from celebrities for Entertainment Tonight to conflict while reporting in the Middle East. She got her masters from Columbia University with a focus on reporting on religion. She loves sharing others stories and hopes to share that love with students.
