THE MONTESSORI PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Maria Montessori and other prominent educators have observed that 3 to 6 year olds are at their most receptive age for many kinds of learning. When exposed to a prepared learning environment, children develop their physical and mental powers to the fullest, along with a desire for further mental activity.
Recognizing the importance of this prepared environment, The Lillian and Betty Ratner School has furnished each classroom with its own set of Montessori materials, each unique, yet possessing a certain order and self-correcting ability.
These materials fall into categories which include:
Practical Life • Sensorial • Language
Math • Geography • Science • Art

confidence, independence
and a love of learning.”
