The Ratner School Announces the Unveiling of a Portrait of School Founders and the Installation of the New Head of School

The Lillian and Betty Ratner School, a co-educational independent school for children 20 months old through eighth grade, announced on Monday a special event this spring. On April 29, 2012 at 5:00 pm The Lillian and Betty Ratner School welcomes the public to an event featuring the unveiling of a portrait of the School’s founders, Lillian and Betty Ratner, and the ceremonial installation of the School’s new Head of School, Dr. Larry Goodman.
The portrait of Lillian and Betty Ratner was painted by John Allston Sargent III, a Ratner School parent, who has exhibited his work nationally since 1988. After receiving his BA in Studio Arts and American Studies from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, Sargent went on to earn a MFA in Painting from the Ohio State University. He lives and works in South Euclid, OH.
Dr. Goodman was appointed to the position of Head of School in December of 2011. His career has included positions at The Latin School of Chicago and, for twelve years prior to coming to The Lillian and Betty Ratner School this past August, at the Laurel School for Girls where Goodman was the Co-Director of the Center for Research on Girls and the Director of Strategic Programming. Dr. Goodman has a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago; his undergraduate degree was also in English at Bucknell University.
