geemay

Geemay Chia: Geemay was chosen second place winner in the International Housewares Student Design Competition for a design created during her senior year at The Cleveland Institute of Art. Her design is called CleanMate, a hybrid walker, folding seat, and caddy for cleaning products. It enables a person with limited physical capabilities to perform household duties by providing mobility and easy all-in-one access to cleaning tools. She constructed a full scale working prototype, presenting her work to various housewares industries and buyers at the International Housewares Show held in Chicago, IL. Geemay also represented CIA at the Industrial Designers Society of America Central District Conference in Columbus to compete against the best students from seven other schools. Geemay was the IDSA Central District winner at that conference.

Kristen Lo: Kristen finished her high school years in Hong Kong, then took a gap year to do mission work in South Africa. She is now back in the U.S., studying Biomedical Engineering at North Carolina State University.


arielle-miller

Arielle Miller: A junior at Yale University and Ratner Alumna of the Class of 2008, Arielle studies International and Diplomatic History. She is primarily interested in 20th Century US diplomatic relations with Iran and Afghanistan. In addition to her studies, Arielle serves as Vice President of External Affairs for the Yale Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI). In 2014-2015, in partnership with Yale Women Cleveland’s President, she established a mentorship alumni pairing program for Yale students in Cleveland. Arielle hopes to implement the program model in Yale Women cities in order to facilitate lasting networks between current students and alumni. Arielle also works as a campus campaign coordinator for Teach for American, and serves on her college’s housing committee.

Ty Sutton: Ty currently attends John Hay High School and is an avid equestrian, competing in jumper shows both locally and nationally. Ty is an honors student and is a member of the National Honor Society. She hopes to attend a university with a strong equestrian program.

Jo Levin: Jo is currently attending Kent State University, studying mass communication, journalism, publicity, and public relations. Jo is also a peer teammate at Planned Parenthood and is a leader in the Northeast Ohio Community for Planned Parenthood’s accessibility program. Jo is also a teammate at GLSEN (Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network).

Nehemiah Stark: Nehemiah is a documentary filmmaker and photojournalist. His work focuses on social justice, and giving voices to marginalized peoples. Recently, one of his photo essays appeared as a feature in The Guardian, and he is working on an experimental documentary film for the Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship Program.

Fiona Hensley: Fiona is the Academic Director for Urban Squash Cleveland, a nonprofit after-school program that uses the sport of Squash as an avenue to get youth interested in their education and planning for their future.

Jana Jaffe: Jana graduated from The Ohio State University in 2015 with a BS in Neuroscience. Jana plans to spend a year working, then will attend medical school in fall 2016. Jana hopes to be a neurologist. While at OSU, Jana volunteered for OSU’s Relay for Life team, and served as Co-Chair during her Junior and Senior years.

Emily Bishop-Bosu: Emily graduated from Montessori High School and currently attends Bowling Green University, where she studies film production and environmental science. Emily has a black belt in Tai Shin Do and has taught children’s classes in the art. Emily has also taught children’s classes at the Houde School of Acting, and spent time in Costa Rica in the Children’s Eternal Rainforest where she conducted research and conservation work.
