HISTORY
The Lillian and Betty Ratner School is a coeducational independent institution enrolling students aged 20 months through kindergarten filling the Montessori Pre-Primary Program and a rich Primary and Middle School for students first through eighth grade.
The Ratner School’s history begins with its founding in 1963. It operates on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Pepper Pike, Ohio, a suburb on the east side of Cleveland. The School has won high regard in the Cleveland community for offering a program that is exceptionally responsive to the individual needs of each student.
This is a setting where students speak positively about how the School celebrates their talents and strengths, how they are helped to achieve success and how they go on to become top performers in the most competitive independent high schools in the area.
The Ratner School student population represents over 30 different communities in the northeastern Ohio area, including inner-ring suburbs (South Euclid, Shaker Heights, Lyndhurst, Cleveland Heights, etc.) as well as southeastern districts (Beachwood, Chagrin Falls, Solon, etc.). Students are admitted at all stages in their educational journey from pre-primary through the primary grades and even in middle school.
Philosophically, The Ratner School is grounded in Jewish traditions while welcoming students of all faiths and cultures. The strong caring staff is committed to serving children with a wide spectrum of abilities. This multidimensional, multicultural environment was a key feature of its founders, Lillian Ratner and Betty Ratner.
The Lillian and Betty Ratner School gives wing to intellectual curiosity, nurtures academic skills with high effectiveness and reinforces the strength and confidence of its students. It is truly a school where each child thrives.
